The European champion in weightlifting – David Fisherov, received a three-year sentence for doping.

The punishment comes into effect on a set date, from the moment of giving the sample, which is March 30, 2023.

Thus, Fischerov has his rights suspended until March 2026, and his sanction was confirmed by the International Weightlifting Federation.

Fisherov’s case made headlines in recent weeks when it emerged that two years ago he had tested positive for trenbolone, a veterinary steroid.

The curious thing is that he missed the World Cup when he was still the reigning European champion, and the officially announced reason was that he was involved in a road accident.

Attempts to cover up the doping scandal proved unsuccessful with the opening of his “B” sample, which also tested positive.

It turned out that he had been suspended since March 2023, which is another doping scandal in his native bars.

Fischerov, who was born as David Fischer in Austria 25 years ago, received Bulgarian citizenship in 2021 and brought European gold to our team, but his career under the Bulgarian flag lasted quite a short time.
