Nurse Julie McFadden from Los Angeles, USA, who cares for patients at the end of their lives, shared her experience, describing what you can most often see in people at these difficult times.

She notes that despite her professional experience, she still doesn’t know the exact causes of these phenomena, but they are common enough that it’s worth talking about with patients’ families.

1. “Visions”
One of the most common phenomena is when a person sees or talks to their deceased relatives a few weeks before their death.
Julie says she often faces negative reactions when she talks about “visions.” Many people believe that she is trying to convince them of the existence of life after death.
2. Brief revival or “rise”
This is a brief surge of strength before death that occurs in about 30% of patients.
The nurse explained that when a person is very ill, they may have a surge of energy for a few days and then die.
3. “Deadly Reach”
The moment when a person seems to be trying to hug or reach someone before death.
To an outside observer, such a phenomenon can be shocking. It looks as if one sees someone, even though there is empty space.
4. “The Look of Death”
And perhaps one of the most common phenomena is the “death stare”, when a dying person focuses his gaze on a certain place in the room and does not react to another.
At the same time, the dying person’s eyes are not just open, they are focused on one point, on something invisible or someone not nearby.
Sometimes the person smiles or speaks.
Julie describes a case of an elderly man who was cared for by his wife.
Although he recognized his wife and tried to be polite, he found it difficult to hold a conversation and follow what was going on. He could suddenly stare at something with a smile on his face and nothing could drag him out of that state.

Some patients claimed to have seen Jesus, but often such visions were related to personal beliefs or memories.
The nurse claims that all these phenomena are completely normal and do not require intervention if the patient feels well.
