It’s whooping cough the most dangerous until the placement of the first vaccine in newborns. The families who they expect the mother to return with the newbornshould also be vaccinated, he said said Prof. Todor Kantarjiev.

“People, vaccinate your children,” urged the professor.

He explained that world practice is pregnant after the sixth month to be vaccinated. The women they can get a vaccine and before becoming pregnant.

Kantarjiev added that up to 40 days it is best for the baby to be with the mother only, so as not to get infected.

Prof. Iva Hristova – director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases also called for vaccination.

And at the moment we have the prescriptions to review which children are dropped, said Prof. Hristova.

“It’s 91-92% coverage in newborns at 2-3-4 months when it is done the first vaccination. Then it decreases. He is already 12 years old just under 90%. So vaccinations of those who have been dropped are being intensified at the moment and in our country,” she said.

The specialist again explained that it was the only reliable prevention and urged people not to divert vaccination with any excuses, because it can cost severe complications in children. She specified that even a vaccinated person can get sick with whooping cough, but he will get over it easily, and immunity from the vaccine is at least 10 years:

“The vaccination protects against disease. Second, if an illness does occur, it will be milder. Third – the carrier and the chance to pass it on to someone is much shorter”.

According to her, there are enough vaccines and active work is being done to administer them.

Prof. Iva Hristova announced that biggest part of the sick are children in school age. According to her, quarantining a class at school is a very effective way to stop the spread.

There are isolated cases of sick older people as well, she added and expressed her opinion: “The elderly are vaccinated with a reliable vaccine and have a stable immunity. I think it is not justified to vaccinate everyone at the moment.”

Prof. Hristova also noted that newborns have the highest risk of complications and death.

People who are vaccinated a long time ago they may transmit the disease or become ill. The first symptoms may take 6-7 days to manifest after contact with an infected person.
