New German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen remain unbeaten in all competitions this season, drawing 1-1 away to Borussia Dortmund in a match of the 30th round of the league.

The match at Signal Iduna Park was the first for Xabi Alonso’s men since they officially secured the Silver Saratiella a week ago, but in the end the visit could have ended in defeat for the Aspirins.

The main reason for this was Niklas Fülkrug’s goal in the 81st minute, which gave Dortmund the lead shortly before the end of regular time.

Deep into the match, however, Florian Wirz’s cross from a corner reached Josip Stanisic and he headed it to make it 1:1, and after the goal the cameras even caught coach Xabi Alonso going to celebrate with his players, although in practice this a result of little importance to Bayer.

After the draw, Leverkusen remain elusive at the top with 80 points, while Borussia Dortmund remain in fifth place with 57 points.

Meanwhile, the Stuttgart side made a mistake in their dispute with Bayern Munich for the second position in the final standings, losing 1-2 in their visit to Werder Bremen.

Two goals by Marvin Duksh ensured a solid lead for the “Bremen musicians” until the 49th minute, and until the end the visitors managed to return only one goal through Denis Undav.

Thus, the “Swabians” are third in the standings with 63 points, three behind Bayern Munich, and Werder is in 11th position with 34 points.
