Manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed Liverpool’s players for a perfect second-half performance in their Premier League clash against Fulham, which the Merseysiders won 3-1. The game was tied at the break, after which the “Reds” scored two goals through Ryan Gravenberg and Diogo Jota.

“In the second half we played complete football,” said Klopp, quoted by Reuters.

“I don’t remember ever playing so well against Fulham. Today (Sunday – BC) we had to take an important step forward and the boys did their job. We created a lot of chances and could have scored more goals. I’m very pleased with their performance and I hope there are no injuries because we have to recover quickly for the game on Wednesday”.

In midweek, Liverpool have a city derby with Everton in which they can afford nothing but a win. The Merseysiders share the top spot in the Premier League standings with Arsenal, while Manchester City are a point behind and have a game in hand over both teams.

“We are in this position entirely because of the character of the boys. Nobody expected us to be this far in the standings and it is only down to them,” added the German, who will leave Liverpool after the last five games of the season.

On Sunday, Trent Alexander-Arnold put Liverpool ahead from a free-kick, sending a very beautiful shot into the Fulham net. Klopp believes the Reds’ right-back is in good form after returning from injury treatment.

“He is super important to our team. Nobody can replace him because nobody is like him. When he is on the pitch, Liverpool play in a different way. It helps us a lot and I’m glad he’s back. I’m glad that all our leading players are coming back,” Klopp added.
