Earth Day 2024: The Planet Against Plastic

We note World Earth Day every year on April 22. It is the largest non-religious holiday in the world, celebrated by millions of people. The reason is one – we all live on planet Earth.

For the first time the Earth is marked on April 22, 1970 in the US and Canada. Through 1990 The day is announced for international holiday a in Bulgaria it has been celebrated since 1993. The goal is for people around the world to unite in the protection of nature and the environment.

Each year, the EARTHDAY.ORG platform coordinates events around the world to demonstrate global support for the environmental movement. Over 1 billion people in 192 countries participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest celebration in the world.

The International Earth Day Network focuses annually on a current topic related to the protection of the planet. This year’s campaign theme is “Planet vs. Plastics” (Planet vs. Plastics). People around the world are being called for a collective commitment from governments, institutions, businesses and citizens to tackle the plastic crisis by reducing plastic production by 60% by 2040 and building a future without plasticbecause recycling alone is no longer enough.
