Israel’s retaliatory strike against Iran has become a “disgrace” for the Russian S-300s

The Israel Defense Forces’ targeted retaliatory strike against Iran has become a “disgrace” for Russia’s S-300 air defense systems, the German newspaper’s analyst notes BILD Christopher Bull.

According to the American newspaper The New York Times the target of the attack was an air force base near the city of Natanz in Isfahan province. There, the Iranian authorities are developing their own nuclear program. Israel was able to disable the Russian air defense system that was supposed to protect the air base from air attacks.

Until recently, the S-300 was considered one of the best air defense systems in the world. The Iranian authorities proudly displayed it in military parades, adorning it with portraits and quotes from the Supreme Religious Leader of the country – Ayatollah Khamenei. But “Israel’s successful attack was a shame for the Russian ruler” Vladimir Putin, Bull is confident.

It remains unclear exactly how Israel hit the S-300. Tehran claims that it is a matter of drones launched from the territory of Iran itself. A number of Western officials are confident that the system was struck by a missile fired from a warplane, but not from Israel or Iran.
