Manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted with the performance of his players in the 3-1 away win at Fulham in the Premier League round of 34.

“In the second half we played complete football,” Klopp said after the Craven Cottage game.

“I can’t remember ever playing so well against Fulham. Today (i.e. Sunday) we had to take an important step forward and the boys did their job. We created a lot of chances and could have scored more goals. I am very happy with their performance and I hope there are no injuries because we have to recover quickly for the match on Wednesday,” said the pleased German about the team’s performance.

In midweek, Liverpool have a city derby with Everton in which they can afford nothing but a win. The Merseysiders share the top spot in the Premier League standings with Arsenal, while Manchester City are a point behind and have a game in hand over both teams.

He also commented on the battle for the title with Manchester City and Arsenal: “We are in this position entirely because of the character of the boys. No one expected us to be so far ahead in the standings and it’s only down to them.”

Klopp also highlighted the good form of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who scored the first goal against Fulham: “He is super important for our team. No one can replace him because no one is like him. When he is on the pitch, Liverpool play differently. It helps us a lot and I’m glad he’s back. I’m delighted to have all our top players back.”
