Dimitrovgrad citizen with gold from ADCC Sofia Open

Dimitrovgrad resident Kaloyan Stoimenov won first place at the ADCC Sofia Open 2024, which was held in Sofia. After contested matches, he won the gold in the youth category up to 65 kg, and in the final he faced a competitor from Romania. After a well-played strategy, the Kombat Sport athlete won the final match with 3:0 points and the gold medal.

In the third place in the category up to 60 kg, the other athlete of the club, Daniel Momchilov, who also performed excellently in his category up to 60 kg of youth, ranked. Daniel played an excellent match for third place and won the bronze medal with 5:0 points.


More than 300 competitors from various clubs in the country and abroad took part in the competition.

The ADCC is an international submission grappling competition organized by the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC). The first tournament was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in 1998. It has been held every two years since 2001, except for 2021 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The host countries of the tournament were Brazil, China, Finland, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Club “Combat Sport” was founded in 2001 by Pavel Dimitrov. Initially, he developed the sport of kickboxing sanda, but in 2014, the training was directed to mixed martial arts MMA, grappling and Brazilian jiu jitsu. Over the years, many graduates of the club have won prizes in various tournaments in the country and abroad, both in kickboxing sanda and MMA, and now also in Brazilian jiu jitsu – a combat sport in which techniques and fighting are developed mainly on the ground.
