A portrait of Vasil Levski won a gold medal for a 10-year-old artist from Targovishte.

Little David Iliev from “Artea” School – Targovishte won the only gold award for Bulgaria at the 31st World Competition for Children’s Creativity in Tokyo, Japan.

This year, talents from 62 countries participated in the competition with over 11 thousand drawings. Bulgaria has been awarded a gold medal and we are very happy that it is with us, said Neli Dimitrova – head of the Arteya School.


David’s prize-winning drawing is a portrait of the Apostle of Bulgarian freedom, executed in the traditional pen and ink graphic technique. This is another gold medal from an international competition for David, who is a very talented child with outstanding abilities in the field of mathematics and fine arts. He is a student at the Second Secondary School “Prof. Nikola Marinov”, and at the “Artea” School he is a graduate of the young teacher Hristo Hristov, for whom this is one of the debut medals, Neli Dimitrova also shared and congratulated the young artist and his supervisor.
