The criminal trial against the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, continues. The first witness – former publisher David Packer – was also heard. According to prosecutors, Packer, then working for the National Enquirer tabloid, helped cover up negative media coverage of Trump.

Pekar told the jury about his role at the company and said all big celebrity stories had to go through him. He said editors can spend up to $10,000 to investigate and publish a story, but anything above that amount must be vetted and approved by him.

Peker also testified that he had personal e-mail for things he didn’t want his assistant to see, reports the BBC.

Prosecutors have accused Donald Trump of trying to cover up an alleged affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels. She claimed she and Trump had an affair and accepted $130,000 in exchange for her silence before the 2016 election. Trump pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts

This is the first of a total of four criminal cases awaiting Donald Trump, but also the only one that will take place before the presidential vote in November. In the first week after the start of the trial, the jurors who will decide whether Trump is guilty or not were selected.
