Investigative journalist Dimitar Stoyanov from Bird.bg was arrested yesterday after a scandal with a NRA employee.

The journalist announced that he was attacked while shopping.

“Even when you’re shopping gently, there’s always some jerk who’ll attack you because you’re shopping in a store he doesn’t like. If you don’t get scared, he’ll run away and then attack you in the back, beat you like an angry woman and he will explain how he will kill you. And you have no idea where it came from. I still wonder if it is a provocation or an idiot,” he wrote and showed the scratches on his head.

In the meantime, it became clear that the case that the Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov is leading against the media has been officially registered in the European register as a violation of the freedom of the media, i.e. as the so-called “slap case”.

“The SLAPP case filed by Minister Kalin Stoyanov against BirdBG journalists Atanas Chobanov and Dimitar Stoyanov has officially entered the European register of threats to the media,” the media reported.

There are currently 109 slapping cases in Bulgaria against media and journalists.
