The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office submitted an indictment to the court against A.A., who caused the death of Ani and Yavor on a footpath while driving a motor vehicle

The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office (SGP) filed an indictment in the Sofia City Court (SGS) for causing death due to carelessness while driving a motor vehicle – a crime under Art. 343, para. 3, ex. 2, alt. 2 and etc. 5, b. “b”, alt. 1, top para. 1, top para. 4, cf. Art. 342, para. 1, item 3 of the Criminal Code.

According to the indictment on 08.05.2023, around 00:17, in the city of Sofia, while driving a car on “Slivnitsa” Blvd. with the direction of movement from “Melnik” St. to “Konstantin Velichkov” Blvd. and in the area of ​​the intersection with “Ruse” street, A.A. violated the traffic rules by driving at a speed of 106 km/h (with a maximum permitted speed of 50 km/h), did not miss the crosswalks on a marked pedestrian crossing path Anna-Maria M. and Yavor S., and caused a traffic accident, as a result of which he caused the death of the two pedestrians due to carelessness. The act was committed on a footpath and it resulted in the death of more than one person.

The investigation was carried out by the “Investigation of Transport Crimes” Sector – SDVR under the direction and supervision of the SGP.

The accusation is proven by the witness statements collected during the investigation, inspection of the scene of the accident, material evidence, 11 expert reports, other written evidence and references.

The Sofia City Court is about to schedule a hearing on the case.
