Trump in talks with European colleagues called Ukraine “part of Russia”. This was reported on Monday by the Wall Street Journal, citing sources.
US officials point out that the former US president has referred to Ukraine as “their Ukraine” or “part of Russia” in conversations with European leaders.
They say Trump has criticized Ukraine for years as a corrupt country. The former president also often complained that Washington was supporting Kiev.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that American lawmakers, in particular Republican senators from the US Congress, during meetings with Trump, convinced the latter that the authorities in Kiev would be able to return all the loans granted to them in case of victory over Russia.
On April 20, the US House of Representatives approved bills to provide military aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, to confiscate frozen Russian assets for transfer to Kiev, and to introduce additional sanctions against China.
The volume of the package was 95 billion dollars. It includes, in particular, $61 billion for Ukraine, $26 billion for Israel, as well as funds to provide humanitarian aid to civilians in conflict zones, including the Gaza Strip.
The bills must now be approved by the US Senate, which will begin consideration on April 23. If passed, they will be sent to US President Joe Biden for signature. The American leader has already promised to sign this package of bills.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that providing military aid to Kiev only complicates the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine
