The Ministry of Health will allow the first immunization against whooping cough to be administered earlier, a month and a half after the birth of the baby, and not as it is now according to the Immunization Calendar, it is administered after the second month, BNR reported. This was decided at a meeting between acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Minister of Health Galya Kondeva, Deputy Minister of Education Emilia Lazarova and Chief State Health Inspector Assoc. Angel Kunchev.

The Council of Ministers explains that the reason for the decision is the data that currently the most registered cases are those under the age of 1 year and complications in newborns are more common.

Minister Kondeva has assured that the situation is being monitored continuously, and the increase in morbidity is not a surprise. According to her, “such peaks are usually observed in a period between 3 and 5 years”.

The meeting also discussed the organization in kindergartens and schools, so that children with symptoms of whooping cough are not admitted.
