The businessman’s wife is also in the dock
The case against Vasil Bozhkov, his wife Elena Dineva and eight other people enters the court. This is clear from an announcement by the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, which a few minutes ago submitted the official indictment against Bozhkov and company.
The accusations are about a criminal group created for the purpose of extortion, official and corruption crimes, and Bozhkov is accused of being the leader of the criminal organization.
Criminal proceedings were initiated in the now-closed Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in 2019 in connection with data on a criminal group that aimed to commit official and corruption crimes. Officials from the closed State Gambling Commission (SGA) also participated in the group.
Ten persons were brought to court – Vasil Bozhkov as the organizer and leader of the group, and the other nine persons – A.G., G.P., A.T., B.B., O.M., T.M. , PG, Elena Dineva and Y.Ch, as participants in it, some of them in the capacity of officials from the State Gambling Commission. This was announced by the press center of the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office
Vasil Bozhkov was brought to court as an instigator in complicity with DKH officials who committed a breach of their official duties – they allowed themselves not to be charged and not to collect the full amount of fees due under the Gambling Act. As a result of the criminal activity, damages were caused to the state budget in the amount of BGN 559,739,164.70.
The Sofia City Court is about to schedule an injunction hearing.
