The General Labor Inspectorate (GIT) reports an increase in occupational accidents in the country, with 37 deaths since the beginning of the year. This was announced in Shumen by the executive director of the inspectorate, Eng. Ekaterina Asenova.
Competent institutions and social partners gathered in Shumen for another meeting, part of the campaign “Come home after work, someone is waiting for you there”. Compliance with the rules does not hinder work, they save lives, said engineer Asenova and commented that last night there was a serious accident in the capital, and the worker is in critical condition because basic safety rules were violated.
“All construction workers and their supervisors know that you can’t stand under a suspended load from a crane, that’s exactly what happened, the load is detached and a 300-kilogram formwork clamps it down. During site inspections, I’ve seen how the technical supervisor, the one who he should really set an example to the people, standing under a suspended load on the hook of a crane”.
Most often, accidents happen in construction, suffering either people with great experience who underestimate the situation, or new workers, according to the analyzes of GIT.
There has been one fatal occupational accident in the Shumen region since the beginning of the year, and the goal is zero occupational injuries in the country.
