New electronic service of the NHIF – see what it is

A new electronic service allows Bulgarian citizens, insured in other countries in the European Union, to check their health insurance status here. This was reported by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
The service gives access to the medical facilities that are contractual partners of the Fund to the patient’s information when providing medical assistance.
To access the reference, citizens must be registered in the NHIF system with a certification document prepared according to the rules for the coordination of social security systems (PSSSS).
The necessary medical assistance is obtained upon presentation of a relevant European or national document. The form must prove that the citizen is registered in the Bulgarian health insurance system as a person insured in another country.

The health fund reminds that in cases of providing emergency and urgent medical assistance to citizens who are insured outside our country, the provisions of the Bulgarian health insurance legislation are applied.
