“Today Bulgaria” will take you to the picturesque and picturesque village of Oreshets to introduce you to a fascinating and unique woman – Sonia Kalkanova.

Nestled in the foothills of the Middle Rhodopes, Oreshets is located on the territory of Asenovgrad Municipality, Plovdiv Region. It is located 40 km from the city of Plovdiv and about 20 km southeast of Asenovgrad, between the villages of Gornoslav (6 km) and Dobrostan (4 km).

The village of Oreshets is a place that every Bulgarian must visit and will fall in love with its unique nature and breathtaking views.

“In the immediate vicinity of the village in the Kaleto area there are remains of an ancient fortress from which, on a clear and sunny day, there is a wonderful view of the Thracian plain and the high peaks of Stara Planina can be seen with the naked eye. In the “Peshturi” area there are several caves, one of which gives the beginning of the Golyama Sushitsa river, on which the Sushitsa dam was built.
