The prosecutor’s office filed an indictment against Bozhkov and nine other people – Bulgaria

P The Prosecutor’s Office brought the case against Vasil Bozhkov and nine other people, related to his gambling business, to the Sofia City Court. The indictment claims that nearly BGN 560 million in damages were caused to the state budget, NOVA reported.

In the case, there are accusations of extortion and racketeering against two individuals who are also gambling operators. Vasil Bozhkov’s wife, Elena, is also accused. Officials from the Ministry of Finance were also questioned.

“At the moment, there is evidence, on the basis of which we have drawn up indictments for 10 people. Four of them are officials from the already closed State Commission on Gambling.

Two were chairmen, one – director of a directorate. The total damage caused to the state through official crimes is over BGN 500 million. They collected much lower fees than the statutory ones. It is caused by unpaid fees to gambling operators. Over 250 witnesses have been questioned, the indictment is over 3,000 pages long.

“We expect the scheduling of an injunctive hearing. We will ask for an open trial,” announced prosecutor Angel Kanev.
