The attempt for the first meeting of the commission of inquiry to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding the construction of “Turkish Stream” began with failure. The MPs failed to agree on the procedural rules to work on.
The intention announced yesterday by the leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov, to initiate in the National Assembly a ban on the entry of Russian gas into Bulgaria caused contradictory reactions from the parliamentary parties.
Here is what some of the deputies in the commission said:
Venko Sabrutev – PP-DB: If Mr. Borisov really wanted such a thing, he would not have made “Turkish Stream” and would not have prevented us from revealing the truth about “Botash”. Today is the first meeting of the Turkish Stream commission and you can see that the sabotage continues.”
Ramadan Atalay – DPS: If all the requirements that Europe imposes on us are met, it is useful, but if necessary, it should be submitted and examined by the commission.
Borislav Gutsanov – “BSP for Bulgaria”: I heard this exotic idea, I don’t know how the gas entering Bulgaria can be controlled. Of course it is a political effect – who is more Euro-Atlantic than all these people in the assembly. They compete to see who is more than the Pope”
Toshko Yordanov – ITN: Hypocrisy, because the gas entering Bulgaria through Turkey and Greece is Russian. Don’t pretend to be crazy. The Russians sell and it goes through intermediaries, so if a drop of Russian gas is not going to pass, it must be seen where it comes from and it is definitely Russian through these suppliers”.
