Real Madrid continued their defense of the Men’s EuroLeague title with a 90-74 (26:17, 22:20, 22:16, 20:21) win against Baskonia in the Spanish Men’s EuroLeague playoff derby. The two teams will meet again in the capital on Thursday.

The hosts quickly built a double-digit lead that grew to 17 points at 42:25. Madrid ended the first half with a lead of 48:37 and their lead exceeded 20 points in the third quarter, which predetermined the outcome of the first playoff game against Baskonia.

Giannan Moussa led Real Madrid with 16 points and Vincent Poirier had ten points and seven rebounds. Sergio Yu made two three-pointers and became the basketball player with the most accurate shots from a long distance in the history of the most prestigious basketball tournament in Europe. Marcus Howard scored 15 points for Baskonia, but was injured and played only 18 minutes.

Bonzie Colson scored 18 points for the winners and Lorenzo Brown added 16. Wade Baldwin scored 15 but left the game with an injury. Mattia Lessor led Panathinaikos with 22 points, while Kostas Sloukas added 12 and recorded a career-high 13 assists.
