The hearing in the defamation case of the former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev against the ex-minister of justice Atanas Slavov was classified by the judge, reports a PIK TV reporter from the Sofia District Court.

We remind you that today for questioning in the case were called acting chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov and judge Vladislava Tsarigradska. However, both of them did not show up.

We remind you that Ivan Geshev filed a lawsuit because of Slavov’s statement that the former number one accuser has a connection with the circle around Martin Bojanov – the Notary. Ivan Geshev filed a civil claim for BGN 20,000 in each of the cases. Atanas Slavov and Borislav Sarafov have been summoned for questioning.

After a brief discussion behind closed doors, the judge adjourned the case indefinitely. The reason – Atanas Slavov is a national representative and as such enjoys immunity and cannot be prosecuted by law.

In fact, it became clear that Slavove has declared that he is waiving his immunity, but he cannot do so unilaterally, as there is a procedure. His request to waive immunity must be voted on. This procedure did not take place and Atanas Slavov still has immunity and the case cannot continue.

Due to the changes in the Constitution, the deputies remain at work until new ones are elected, so it is not clear when the case will be resumed.

It was not clear what the secret documents in the case are, because of which it had to be heard behind closed doors.
