Iran and Pakistan called on the UN Security Council to take action against Israel, saying that illegally attacked neighboring countries and foreign diplomatic facilities.
The comments, which accuse Israel of a “major escalation in an already unstable region,” are in joint statement issued on Wednesday by the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan after the three-day visit of the President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi.
Earlier last week, Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya called a parade of hypocrisy and doubles standards the convened emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Iran’s retaliatory strike against Israel.
Nebenzia emphasized that the Iranian attack occurred as a result of inaction of the UN Security Council regarding the Israeli attack on Iranian diplomatic facilities.
“What happened on the night of April 14, did not happen in a vacuum. Iran’s actions were a response to the shameful inaction of the UN Security Council, a response of Israel’s apparent attack on Damascusnot the first one that is continuously bombarded by Israel,” he said.
