Greeks are limiting travel and spending over Easter because of high prices, according to a survey by the Institute for Analysis of the Consumers Union.

A study on the attitudes towards the preparations for the Easter holidays was published by the Institute for the Analysis of Consumer Plans for the Holiday.

Only 9% of Greeks have the opportunity to visit an establishment for Easter. The maximum expenses that an average family can afford is 190 euros.

Only 26% of Greeks will travel outside the city where they live, with most visiting relatives in the countryside. 50% of housewives will bake their own kozunaci due to prohibitive prices in the commercial network.

The price of lamb meat, despite the promise of the Ministry of Development to make it cheaper, from 10 euros per kilogram last year is now 13 euros per kilogram with a tendency to reach 15 euros.

MPs from the opposition party SYRIZA commented to the media that “Greeks will welcome the most expensive Easter in their lives” thanks to the economic policy of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
