The recent finance minister Asen Vassilev is due to be heard today by the interim parliamentary committee to investigate the corrupt practices in the “Customs” Agency.
The scandal “exploded” the country at the beginning of the month, when the director of the agency, Petya Bankova, was arrested. In the course of the investigation, it became clear that Bankova was she knew Stefan and Marin Dimitroviwith the three accused of participating in an organized criminal smuggling ring, money laundering and bribery. During the court session, the testimony of a witness was cited, according to whom the Dimitrovs knew Asen Vassilev.
So far, the commission on the case has heard the Minister of the Interior KAlin Stoyanovthe finance minister Lyudmila Petkovathe chairman of DANS Plamen Tonchev, the former chief secretary of the Ministry of the Interior Peter Todorov and former Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov.
