Over 9% is the difference between GERB-SDS and PP-DB for the upcoming elections. This is shown by a survey by the sociological agency “Trend” commissioned by “Nova Broadcasting Group” and “24 Chasa”, dedicated to the attitudes of Bulgarians towards the main institutions, parties and current topics. The research was carried out between April 12 and 19, 2024. by direct semi-standardized face-to-face interview with a tablet among 1002 people aged 18+.
“The study was conducted after the collapse of the rotation, after the inauguration of the official cabinet and after the scandals in the Customs Agency.” Dimitar Ganev, a sociologist from the Trend Research Center, explained this in the “Hello, Bulgaria” studio.
In his words, compared to a similar survey conducted in March, “who knows how serious a difference in the electoral picture” is not taken into account. “What has happened within this month is that there is an erosion in the support of the PP-DB. The gap between the first and the second widens thanks to this erosion, not because of the growth of the first political power. Due to this fact, the difference between the top two is just over 9 percent. Otherwise, as a structure of attitudes, there is not much of a serious difference. What is registered with this study is that the first is separated at a difficult distance”, he stressed.
According to the data of the sociological agency, Dimitar Glavchev’s cabinet started with 20% approval.
11% positively evaluate the changes in the Constitution in the part about the official cabinet.
There is a new drop in the assessment of the Parliament’s work, and in April the positive assessment was 12%, and the negative assessment reached 80%.
In the assessment of the president, no serious dynamics have been taken into account for almost 10 months now.
One fifth (20%) of Bulgarians express their approval for Dimitar Glavchev’s office, and 39% disapprove. The values of the option “Don’t know/Can’t judge” are relatively high due to the relatively recent inauguration of the government compared to the beginning of the research field.
Only 11% of Bulgarians have a positive attitude to the changes in the Constitution in the part related to the official cabinet. Although the topic has been seriously discussed in the public space in recent months, still 39% state that they are not aware of the changes. 38% of the interviewees have a negative attitude towards the constitutional changes.
Despite a month saturated with political events, no serious change in electoral attitudes was registered. The rotation negotiations and the accusations surrounding the Customs Agency are probably the reason for the erosion of support for “Continuing the Change-Democratic Bulgaria” with just over 2 percentage points of the voters. GERB-SDS maintained its levels from recent months (24.9% of voters). PP-DB (15.5%), DPS (14.4%) and Vazrazhdane (14.2%) have close values and their performance in the upcoming election campaign will be key to the final arrangement of the second, third and fourth places. Sigurna remains the fifth position for the BSP (9.1% of the voters), and in sixth place is “Ima talik narod” with 4.8% of the voters. 6.9% of Bulgarians declare that they will take advantage of the “I do not support anyone” option. 49% are those who say they will vote in the upcoming early parliamentary elections, which equates to about 2.6 to 2.8 million voters.
The electoral picture in the European elections is quite similar. Among them, we report a slightly higher mobilization for “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria” up to 16.1% and a minimal difference in a negative direction for the BSP (8.7% of voters).
