I am deeply saddened and disappointed by my fellow MPs from PP-DB, who did not support in the Committee on Labor, Social and Demographic Policy, the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Political and Civil Rehabilitation of Repressed Persons, of which I have the honor to be a sponsor , set with colleagues Denitsa Sacheva, Sevim Ali, Elvan Gyurkash and Yordan Tsonev. This is what the chairman of the SDS Rumen Hristov wrote on his Facebook profile.

It concerns 6,000 sufferers, 1,000 of them with Turkish names, who, due to persecution, forced emigration and other repressions, cannot prove social security experience when they reach retirement age. Therefore, they cannot apply for a supplement to the pension, it is denied to them by the National Social Insurance Institution, because they are not entitled to a pension to which it can be added, he explained.

We proposed changes to modernize the pension support for the repressed, because since 1991, when it was provided for them, there has been a huge change in social and economic realities, Hristov points out.

“The planned funds are BGN 10 million from the budget for 2025, which can be set aside to make a gesture to these suffering people. For comparison, by 1980, 240,000 active fighters against fascism enjoyed privileges and benefits , which benefit not only them, but also their families. Against the background of their successful and post-communist families, these 6,000 suffering people deserve such a gesture, which is not only financial, but above all, we owe them this! , states the chairman of the SDS

“Unfortunately, the colleagues from PP-DB and “Vazrazhdane” thwarted the adoption of the law in the commission. Their conscience will be weighed down by this other nonsense with those repressed by communism. I cannot explain how a deputy from Lovech, where one of the most cruel “Sunny Beach” death camps, as well as the grandson of a communist-repressed regent, did not support these 6,000 victims of the regime! Human and historical duty are obviously irrelevant to the party order of the pseudo-democrats!” concludes Hristov.
