Ot today begins the payment of the Easter supplements for pensioners. The Parliament approved additional income in the amount of BGN 100 for those whose pension or sum of pensions, together with supplements and compensations for the month of April 2024, is up to BGN 526 inclusive.
About 534 thousand Bulgarians are entitled to additional funds.
Easter supplements of BGN 75 for pensioners below the poverty line were offered by the DPS and GERB-SDS, SafeNews recalls.
The Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Finance and Deputy Chairman of the DPS Yordan Tsonev clarified that the expenses do not concern transfers from the budget and will be reimbursed with the budget of the National Institute of Social Sciences and internal transfers.
“In the next month, after a careful analysis of revenues and expenses, other opportunities will be sought to support other socially weak groups of Bulgarian society,” Tsonev also stated.
The National Insurance Institute recalculated the pensions of about 350,000 pensioners who acquired social security experience after their retirement or after the last recalculation of their pensions. They will be on people’s bills this month.
The recalculation will cover working pensioners receiving occupational pensions.
They must have acquired insurance experience in the previous year 2023 and have not submitted an application for recalculation by the date of the current official recalculation.
The measure began as an emergency during the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 and became permanent a year later.
Last year, the pensions of nearly 336,000 working pensioners were officially recalculated.
