Residents of Ankara are still exposed to the negative effects of Saharan dust. Air quality in Ankara is still deteriorating.

Since the evening of April 24, the capital has been under the influence of dust from Africa. The city is expected to remain under the influence of dust clouds until this evening.

The dust clouds have alarmed residents of the capital, especially citizens with respiratory ailments, with many walking the streets wearing masks. Many people who do not suffer from any diseases, however, complain of coughing fits. The dust irritates the eyes, and people are advised to wear sunglasses or, if possible, not go out at all. Also, among the negative effects of the resulting situation are allergic reactions in people prone to allergies and with more sensitive skin.

Residents of Ankara are advised not to open windows in their homes and offices. Citizens are also urged to wear masks and drink plenty of water, A Haber TV reported.

Even today, orange-brown drops can be seen on the cars.

Experts warn that people with diseases such as asthma and bronchitis are most at risk. Fine particles in this dust can enter the respiratory tract and cause symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain and wheezing.

The General Weather Service has issued a yellow code for today for expected bad weather conditions due to desert dust in a total of 35 counties, including Ankara, Antalya, Adana, Konya, Kayseri, Zonguldak, (in North, Central and South Turkey).
