Five men, including British citizens, have been charged in connection with alleged hostile activity against Britain to benefit Russia, British police said today, as quoted by Reuters.

Dylan Earl, 20, appeared in a London court on Saturday charged with two offenses under the National Security Act in connection with “activity likely to benefit Russia”, court records showed.

Earle is also accused of arson at a commercial premises in London. Two other men, Paul English, 60, and Ni Kojo Menash, 21, have also been charged with the arson.

British prosecutors said the arson charges related to the “deliberate setting fire to a commercial property linked to Ukraine in March 2024”.

Two more defendants appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London today. 22-year-old Jake Reeves is accused of accepting a material benefit from a foreign intelligence service and committing arson. And 22-year-old Dmitrius Paulauskas is accused of failing to disclose information about terrorist acts to the police.

Prosecutors said the charges against Reeves and Paulauskas are related to the investigation against Earle, English and Menash.

The five men are due to appear in court on May 10.

Meanwhile, British Foreign Minister David Cameron wrote on the X social network that he is deeply disturbed by the accusations against Britons for carrying out criminal activities in Great Britain for the benefit of Russia.

“We will use the full weight of the criminal justice system to hold accountable anyone found guilty of crimes related to foreign interference,” he added.
