The widow of the late Russian dissident Alexei Navalny has warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is unpredictable and she said it is not out of the question that he could use nuclear weapons at some point. “We don’t know what to expect from him. He will probably do it,” she said in an interview with DPA.

Yulia Navalna compared the issue to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, saying she did not expect Putin to attack at the time, given the strong ties between the two countries.

Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 after illegally occupying Crimea in 2014.

The Navalnys were Russia’s most prominent opposition activists for many years.

Navalny, a longtime and outspoken opponent of Putin, died in a prison camp in the Arctic Circle in Siberia on February 16.
