British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s latest attempt to send some migrants to Rwanda finally received approval from parliament early on Tuesday, hours after he promised deportation flights would begin in July, the AP reported.

Parliament blocked the adoption of the legislation for two months, while the House of Lords refused to amend and cleared the way for the bill to become law.

The two houses of parliament will continue to meet until it is approved.

“I can confirm that we have put an airport on standby, we have booked commercial charter planes for specific slots and we have 500 well-trained individuals ready to escort illegal migrants all the way to Rwanda, with another 300 trained personnel in the coming weeks, Sunak said. We are ready . The plans are in place. And these flights will take off, no matter what,” he is emphatic. According to the timetable set by the British Prime Minister, the first flight will depart in July.

Sunak is confident that the plan meets all of Britain’s international obligationsas a comment on a question about the country’s membership in European Convention on Human Rights.

At the beginning of 2024 Sunak won the first vote in the upper house of parliament on the plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda. Since then, the proposal has suffered a number of defeats and setbacks. In the begining of March The House of Lords passed 5 amendments to the bill.

On March 28, the UN Human Rights Committee called on Britain to abandon the controversial bill, due to concerns that the agreement was inconsistent with international law.

On April 16, members of the House of Commons of the British Parliament rejected all changes.

Illegal migration is a major political issue in Britainwhere it is seen as evidence of a government failure to control it.

The number of migrants arriving in the UK in small boats, jump to 45,774 in 2022 from just 299 four years earlieras asylum seekers pay criminal gangs to get them through.

Last year the arrivals by small boats fell to 29,437as the government cracked down on the channelers and reached an agreement to repatriate them.
