Russian authorities have lost contact with the owners of the largest strategic enterprise in Volgograd – the shipyard, local media reported, including “Notebook-Volgograd”.

Volgograd Regional Duma Deputy Ruslan Sharifov announced that, in his capacity as chairman of the Committee on Industrial Policy, the Fuel-Energy Complex, Transport and Road Facilities, he and his colleagues had taken control of the situation at the facility.

The details of what Sharifov said rather show that at the moment the representatives of the commission have neither an understanding of what is happening in the enterprise, nor a connection with its management, commented the media.

Sharifov recalled that the Volgograd Shipyard is more than 90 years old, and in its heyday was one of the largest in the industry and specialized in the production of dry and liquid cargo vessels for river, mixed river-sea and sea navigation conditions . Since 2011, however, the plant has been in crisis, which led to the suspension of work and bankruptcy. And in September 2023, after an auction, the enterprise became the property of “HizMet”, whose beneficiaries are Adam and Hezir Bezievi.

Since the site is included in the list of strategic enterprises and organizations approved by order of the Government of the Russian Federation, it plays an important role in the development of industry in the region and the country, as well as in meeting the state needs for defense capability and security of Russia. “HizMet” had to conclude a special agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

“The preservation of the production complex and the provision of its development in relation to the implementation of the work under the state defense order was provided for in the purchase and sale agreement. However, the conditions have not been fulfilled. In addition, there is no information about the work of the site, the deadlines for the implementation of investment projects to create new profitable production facilities.

The further fate of the Volgograd Shipyard currently depends on the decisions and actions of its new owner, with whom he has no relationship.

“The restoration of the industrial potential of the Volgograd Shipyard is in full compliance with the strategic goals for the development of the native shipbuilding industry set by the President of the Russian Federation,” Sharifov stressed.
