Balkan cuisine with Chef Andre Tokev

--

The sixth week of the first culinary competition for children in Bulgaria, Chef Talent, took place under the sign of vegetarian and Balkan cuisine. The young chefs Kamelia, Mia, Zornitsa, Spartak, Belizar and Theodore demonstrated knowledge and skills in the kitchen worthy of professional chefs.

Before the actual preparation of the vegetarian dishes began, the children received curious information from Bohdana about the origin of the meatless meal. Immediately afterwards, Chief Tokev decided to test the children’s skills in measuring the exact amount of salt. Theodore became the winner of the game. He got the right to choose a device just for himself. Spartak won the quiz and this gave him the opportunity to distribute the products to the other contestants.

The children were given exactly 45 minutes to cook all the products. In the kitchen of Chef Talent, there was real vegetarian action, and the young chefs definitely proved why they are among those chosen to participate in the show. Viewers saw a tropical spring salad, celeriac steak, Gabrovo manja with poached eggs, scallops Saint-Jacques with earth apple and Tiger cake with pistachio puree.

The episode with the second challenge of the week – Balkan cuisine, began with the announcement of the points that the children earned with their vegetarian feasts. Spartacus got one point and the full set of 6 deservedly went to Mia. Bogdana and Andre enriched the knowledge of young talents with valuable information about Balkan cuisine. A quick quiz followed, which Mia won and divided the participants into main and assistant chefs. Immediately after that, the children had to cut pieces of cheese into equal halves, and Zornitsa was the most precise. She distributed the different types of meat that the others were to cook with.

Chef Andre Tokev started the cooking, and the dishes were inspired by Greece, Serbia and Turkey. Although there was tension between the couples, everyone performed brilliantly with the task. Spartak deservedly got the two points of Bohdana, and the winner of the week was Belizar. He received a special award.

The children’s culinary competition is broadcast every Monday and Tuesday from 18:00 on the air of Soul&Pepper TV.
