Petar Volgin, who is in second position in the Eurolist of “Vazrazhdane”, was a guest yesterday in his own show on BNR. He sat in the interviewee’s chair, and the questions were asked by his colleague Silvia Velikova!

The two radio hosts of the “Politically INCORRECT” program on Horizon made a spectacle, as it is somewhat unusual for Volgin to be in the role of narrator of his own plans. “We are sliding towards the abyss of totalitarianism and the means of journalism are not enough,” said Peter Volgin, explaining what made him accept the invitation of “Vazrazhdane” to participate in the European elections. He reasoned that “Vazrazhdane” is the only party that has the courage and at all dares to challenge the status quo. Not only the Bulgarian, but also the European status quo. “How can I not like a party that Ursula von der Leyen dislikes and fears,” Volgin specified ironically.

The subject of the difficult choice of whether to stay at work or to express one’s opinion freely is fundamental to the journalistic profession. Silvia Velikova explained to the listeners that the presence of Petar Volgin in the BNR is proof that there is pluralism. But Volgin defined the suspended interview with the Russian ambassador Mitrofanova as “the most striking manifestation of censorship in the last 35 years in Bulgaria.” He noted that there is a “censorship vise” at the moment. To the presenter’s provocative question whether Volgin plans to learn the vocabulary of “Vazrazhdane”, the candidate for MEP answered that he will continue to be “politically INCORRECT”. And he pointed out that during his conversations with the chairman of “Vazrazhdane” Kostadin Kostadinov, they commented on the freedom of self-expression and the conditions of political interaction.

“You can do anything you want and be as incorrect as you are now!”, these were the words of Kostadin Kostadinov to Petar Volgin when they discussed the possibility of Volgin participating in the list of “Revival”. When did Volgin decide that he could change his career as a journalist to that of a politician? “It happened in front of everyone’s eyes,” Volgin declared. And he added: “We are not in a normal situation. If we want to preserve the little remaining freedom of speech, we must send people who love freedom to the Bulgarian parliament, as well as to the European one. Because we actually keep sending people who don’t love freedom. Who just listen and follow orders. We see some people who are put there to push buttons. And I want people who stand up for the right to be different. We must resist the way the EU looks at the moment. Because this EU currently has nothing to do with a union of free, independent states. The EU has become a mechanism for crushing difference.
