For the first time in Burgas there will be a massive Summer Nicholas Day with music and fish sacrifice: Black Sea lighthouse

Burgasians are passionate about their Nicholas Day holiday, which is celebrated annually on December 6. Big city celebrations have always been and will be then. But this year the Municipality of Burgas is also preparing a holiday program for the first mass Summer Nicholas Day in the history of the city. If the initiative is liked by the residents and guests of the city, it will continue to develop.

The idea is in a season with nicer weather, when Burgas is sunny and green, to celebrate by the sea, inviting guests from abroad and other corners of Bulgaria to have fun with us.

Summer Nicholas Day is an Orthodox holiday that honors Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The celebration is traditionally held in the days around May 9, when his relics are brought to the Italian city of Bari. It has been honored in the folk calendar for centuries, especially among the Eastern Slavs.

The first mass Burgas Summer Nikulden will be held on May 9, 2024. Its culmination will be an evening concert with the participation of the MOLETS band and Vesselin Marinov. But during the day there will be many other events and entertainment, as well as sea rituals. Fish Kurban and free tasting of mussels in Burgas style – this is the culinary highlight of the holiday.
