The mayor of Lovech, Stracimir Petkov, dismissed the deputy mayor, Eng. Petar Marinov, saying that the dismissal was political. The reason is that he receives support in the Municipal Council from BSP, from whose quota Marinov is, BTA reported.
The last example that Petkov gave is from yesterday’s meeting of the Municipal Council, at which the structure of the Municipality was not accepted for the second time. “This is my decision based on several consecutive City Council votes and the way we communicate with this group. Out of five municipal councilors, three voted “abstain” from the proposal for the structure of the municipal administration, the mayor said.
Petkov recalled that in the run-off in the local elections, he was supported not only by the coalition that nominated him – PP “There is such a people” (PP “Bulgarian Rise”), but also by three more formations – BSP, PP-DB and the party “Vazrazhdane” “. “Based on this support and the political agreements we had made, all three formations have deputy mayors. Whatever weight this carries as governance and the segmented City Council, it can be seen that it is difficult to manage in this way. These political agreements lead to correctness on both sides. My commitments were to appoint deputy mayors. The attitude I receive from the BSP led to this dismissal. I believe that when one side does not respect its commitments, the other should too respond in this way,” Petkov also stated.
According to him, by not accepting the structure, the way of managing the mayor’s vision is hindered. “The structure is a management decision. Eng. Marinov is an expert and in my eyes continues to be one, but as of Monday we are parting ways,” added Stracimir Petkov.
