They announced the competition for 52 places for notaries, the written exam is on August 25

Acting Minister of Justice Maria Pavlova announced the competition for 52 positions for notaries throughout the country, the procedure for which Krum Zarkov started more than a year ago.

The order was published today in the State Gazette (see the orders of the two ministers on pages 113-115 in today’s issue here) and therefore the one-month deadline for submitting documents has also begun.

As “Lex” wrote, already in November 2022, the ministry announced that it was planning a competition for notaries for 50 vacancies.

At the beginning of January 2023, Krum Zarkov issued an order, by which there were already 52 places, with 4 of them in Sofia. She was appealed by several notaries, but the court confirmed its longstanding practice of not hearing their appeals for lack of legal interest (see more here). The court appeal ended at the end of 2023, but Minister Atanas Slavov never announced the competition, and at the end of his mandate, he suggested to Maria Pavlova to consider whether to end it.

Now finally Minister Pavlova proposes to announce a competition for four places in Sofia, two each in Ardino, Asenovgrad, Dobrich, Ivaylovgrad, Kazanlak, Karlovo, Momchilgrad, Omurtag, Razgrad and Yambol and one each in Aytos, Berkovitsa, Byala, Byala Slatina , Veliki Preslav. Velingrad, Vidin, Galabovo, Devin, Dimitrovgrad, Zlatograd, Karnobat, Kotel, Krumovgrad, Kula, Montana, Nikopol, Pavlikeni, Panagyurishte, Radomir, Ruse, Silistra, Sliven, Slivnitsa, Trun, Tutrakan, Tsarevo and Shumen.

The written exam is scheduled for August 25, 2024 at 10 a.m.

Only those graded with at least a Good 4 on it will be able to take the oral exam. As “Lex” wrote, in the last exam for notaries in 2018, the results were very low and two thirds of the candidates dropped out after the written exam (see more here). Then, because of the poor and weak results of the exams, no new notaries were appointed in Veliki Preslav, Kotel, Krumovgrad, Omurtag and Harmanli, and only one of the two vacant positions was filled in Ivaylovgrad.

The fee for participation in the contest is BGN 50
