On May 2, Thursday, at 7 p.m in the Opera hall, the traditional one is coming Easter concertdedicated to the brightest Christian holiday.
Behind the conductor’s desk stands the famous one again maestro Yordan Dafov, which is the winner of the “Golden Century” award of the Ministry of Culture.
The talented and respected conductor is among the prominent figures honored for their contribution to the development of culture and the affirmation of national identity. Maestro Jordan Dafov, celebrated his 84th birthday in February of this year and continues to be energetic and dedicated to the stage.
Yordan Dafov also conducts the Christmas concert at the end of 2023, to a full house with an international audience. The upcoming concert is expected to attract a wide range of classical music fans.
Under the baton of the exceptional master behind the conductor’s desk, who knows how to master the score – both in scale and in detail, it is expected, as always at events of this rank, that an ideal altar of humility will be created in the days of reflection before the Resurrection of Christ and be created a fine space for artistic ecstasy, intellectual empathy and reflection – for awareness, rearrangement of values, search for meaning in truly valuable things, self-rebirth and resurrection of the spirit – immanently embedded in God’s providence.
“The Nuremberg Master Singers” is the only one of Richard Wagner’s mature operas written on a folk-historical plot. Colorful pictures of life in the medieval city occupy an important place in the work.
In the symphonic opening, which will be performed at the Easter concert on May 2, two sets of musical themes are juxtaposed: solemn melodies with a majestic sound, associated with the image of folk life, and bright lyrical motifs that describe the excitement of the main characters in the opera.
The very first theme is that of the Meistersingers, the 16th-century guild of singers, and its Nuremberg affiliate.
After this theme, one after the other, the main themes of the opera follow: the theme of passion, the song of the prize, the theme of love recognition, the art of brotherhood, ironic mockery and others, which received the characteristics of leitmotifs in the construction of the opera. Wagner made his own revision of the overture, which was intended for concert performance, and it became a finished work.
The second work in the program of the Easter concert is the rarely performed one Masses in C major, opus 86 for soloists, choir and orchestra by Ludwig van Beethoven.
The mass of the great representative of the Vienna classical school Beethoven, created in 1807, is one of the composer’s first attempts in the genre of liturgical music, and perhaps that is why it is characterized by its emotional charge, typical of Beethoven’s style, and directness of expression.
The large-scale work of the cantata-oratorio genre will be performed for the first time on the Burgas stage.
Soloists for the Mass in C major will be: Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova – sopranoJoanna of Cadiz – mezzo sopranoYani Nikolov – tenor and Kostadin Mechkov – bass.
He will be a concertmaster Vanya Zlateva, which is the winner of the highest award of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Artists – “Crystal Necklace”. The choir of the State Opera – Burgas with a conductor also participated in the Easter concert Alexander Chepanov.
