4,500 fines for drivers after two actions by the Plovdiv police

--

Police officers imposed thousands of fines on offenders during two specialized actions held in Plovdiv. The first was part of a national action related to speeding. It was divided into two stages. During the first, 2,520 speeding drivers were detected – 2,084 were detected in populated areas, and 436 – on road sections outside populated areas. During the second stage of the campaign, 548 drivers were penalized for speeding.

Separately, a special operation was conducted, focused on pedestrian violators, as well as on the use of seat belts and other safety systems.

A total of 6,459 vehicles were checked, 409 reports and 1,023 slips were drawn up. 182 drivers and 52 passengers were penalized for improper seat belts. 66 pedestrians were fined – 25 of them for suddenly entering the traffic lane, five for running a red light, 29 for crossing unregulated places. 10 drivers have been fined for taking the right of way for a pedestrian. The data on the results of the two actions were presented by the head of the “Road Police” sector in Plovdiv ch. Insp. Krasimir Neshev.

“The actions for pedestrians are not a campaign, they aim at re-education. The most frequent violations by pedestrians are suddenly leaving the traffic lane. The actions will continue in the future,” emphasized Neshev.

He added that increased and strict control is also being exercised against the drivers of the electric scooters.
