Disasters in Plovdiv are growing, emergency measures have been taken

There is an increase in accidents with casualties in Plovdiv. This became the reason for urgent identification of measures to improve the traffic situation at an extraordinary meeting of the Regional Traffic Safety Commission.

It was convened at the suggestion of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in connection with The meeting led by the Deputy Regional Governor Dr. Eng. Atanas Tashkov was attended by the director of the police, Senior Commissioner Georgi Chergov and employees from the “Road Police” sector, as well as representatives of institutions responsible for ensuring traffic safety.

During the discussion, the participants united around the opinion that the causes of accidents are of a different nature and require adequate responses from each involved organization, but the efforts must necessarily be common. In this direction, certain problems were outlined and a unanimous decision was taken to implement specific actions in the shortest possible time.

Two proposals made by the police met with general approval – on the major road arteries in the district, to designate and indicate with signs control points with technical means of speed, on which to deploy the teams; to carry out effective monitoring of the quality of training for the restoration of confiscated control points of drivers who violate the Traffic Safety Act.

Among the other decisions of the commission are to place road signs D3 /indicating preliminary reconstruction/ in the areas of certain intersections; carrying out intensified police control of pedestrian paths and unregulated crossing points to be surveyed in order to restore missing barrier facilities; improving the conditions of mass urban transport to make it a preferred mode of transport and reduce heavy traffic.
