The awards are presented on a competitive basis for high achievements in the realization of the mission of the libraries in the Silistra region and contribution to raising their authority.
They distinguish the implementation of innovative library services for users and projects of high public importance. Nominations for the annual awards were submitted on behalf of librarians and secretaries of community centers from the Silistra region, and the procedure for selecting the winners is in two stages – assessment of the eligibility of the applications and selection of the award winner.
THE LIBRARIAN OF THE YEAR 2023 is Galina Asenova Saluf from the Svetlina 1941 Primary School – Preslavtsi village – Tutrakan municipality, who has held the position of secretary-librarian for three years. Mrs. Saluf gives strength and energy to the projects, undertakings and work of the community center and its library. She creates and promotes a page of the community center, in which she reflects the numerous activities of which she is the organizer. She manages to motivate the young residents of the village for holidays and anniversaries. Actively participates in all activities related to the library guild in the district and is an example of tireless work for the benefit of the community. The award was presented by the regional governor, Mr. Yordanov.
THE LIBRARY OF THE YEAR 2023 is the library at the “Ivan Vazov 1941” primary school in Sratsimir village – Silistra municipality, represented by Mrs. Malina Hristova and Mrs. Pavlina Ivanova. The community library promotes donations to libraries in the public space and works tirelessly with readers and residents of the village. In the summer, the library attracts all the residents of the village not only with the presentations and educational materials prepared by the library staff, but also with an outdoor cinema. Over the past three years, the librarian and community center secretary have also been involved in brigade support teams for several different community libraries. The library actively participates in all projects of the Ministry of Culture related to Bulgarian libraries and enrichment of their funds. The award was presented by the chairman of the Municipal Council – Silistra, Mr. Trendafilov.
The community center in the village of Preslavtsi received the “SUPPORT FOR LIBRARIES” PRIZE. Community center “Svetlina 1941” is an active community center, established 83 years ago. The population of the village is small, but the community is united and the community center always works with them on local initiatives and projects. The Community Center has a library, groups for authentic folklore – Alian folklore, “Young reciter” club, local lore club, ethnographic exhibition of the “Local Lore” club, museum exhibition “Authentic Alian costume and its modern interpretations”, theater group and dance groups, club “United mothers, etc. The award was presented by the deputy regional governor, Mr. Velikov.
