Tigers have a distinctive orange coat with black stripes. However, there is also a subspecies of the Bengal tiger that is white with black stripes. The new exhibit can be seen in the “Mammals” hall of the museum.
The exposition in the “Mammals” hall is arranged in two modules. In the first one, arranged in an L-shape, the species of the Bulgarian theriofauna are exhibited. The showcase starts with a dummy cave with bats and ends with the marine habitats of dolphins and seals.
In it, by recreating the natural habitats of the species, some typical species of our fauna, such as red deer, chamois, mouflon, fox and wolf, as well as some species rare for the fauna of Bulgaria – Eurasian lynx, bulldog bat and the extinct seal are shown. a monk. Highlights of this showcase are the largest brown bear on the Balkan Peninsula, awarded with a gold medal, and the roe deer, awarded with a silver medal for the country.
The second module houses exotic species from all over the world. Most of the species are representatives of big cats: tiger, puma, leopard, lion, ocelot and Amur leopard – one of the rarest animals on the planet. Of particular interest are the other exotic species – polar bear, American bison, wild donkey, two-humped camel, etc.
