Sofia and 5 other regions have new governors, it became clear from the decisions made today by the Council of Ministers. The government of Dimitar Glavchev dismisses the current regional governors of the Lovech, Ruse, Silistra, Sliven, Sofia and Sofia regions.

Stefan Arsov has been appointed as the regional governor of the Sofia-city region. He has a master’s degree in “Law” from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Long-term lawyer with experience both in the private sector and in the municipal administration of Sofia Municipality. Until now, he holds the position of “deputy regional governor” of the Sofia-city district.

Silvia Arnautska has been appointed district governor of Sofia region. She graduated with a master’s degree in “Preschool and Primary School Pedagogy” and “Educational Management – Education Management” at the Southwest University “Neofit Rilski”. Arnautska has been a teacher for many years, and for the past seven years she has been an expert on “education and health care” in the municipality of Ihtiman.

Chavdar Bozhurski was appointed regional governor of Sliven region. He holds a master’s degree in law from the University of St. Kliment Ohridski. From 2017 to 2021, he held the same management position. From August last year until now, he has been the deputy regional governor of Sliven region. Before that, Bozhurski held a managerial position in the Regional Police Directorate – Sliven.

Iliyan Velikov has been appointed regional governor of Silistra region. Velikov graduated from “Angel Kanchev” Higher Technical School in Ruse. Twice he held the position of deputy regional governor of Silistra region. Prior to that, he held managerial positions in ODMVR-Silistra.

Dragomir Draganov was appointed regional governor of Ruse. He has a master’s degree in economics. He was a national representative in the 48th and 49th National Assembly. He was mayor of Dve Mogili municipality from 2007 to 2011 and deputy mayor of Byala municipality.

Dora Angelova was appointed regional governor of Lovech region. She graduated in “Law” and “Economics” at UNSS. She is a long-time employee of the Regional Administration in Lovech, and until that moment she held the position of “Chief Legal Counsel”. He also has experience in the social sphere as “Senior Legal Counsel” in the Regional Directorate “Social Assistance” in the city.

The caretaker government of Dimitar Glavchev took office on April 9 this year. Since then, there have been two changes in the personnel of the Council of Ministers – Stefan Dimitrov was released from the post of acting minister of foreign affairs and Dimitar Glavchev took over the ministry, and Kiril Vatev replaced Georgi Takhov as the acting minister of agriculture and food. A number of deputy ministers were also replaced, BTA recalls. On the very day he took office, the official cabinet proposed to the president to release the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zhivko Kotsev. On April 9, acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ludmila Petkova announced that Georgi Dimov was appointed as director of the Customs Agency. With its decision from today, the government appointed new members of the Supervisory Board of the National Insurance Institute.
