The children from Lyuljak Elementary School showed Mayor Georgi Stamenov festive customs

--

The customs and songs dedicated to the spring holiday cycle of the Bulgarians were recreated by the children from the third group of “Lilac” kindergarten. They visited the “Central” area on the eve of the major holidays Lazarov’s Day, Palm Sunday and Easter.

Mayor Georgi Stamenov welcomed them with a story about the symbolism of ritual breads and the tradition of making them with a prosphora seal. All the children were given stamps describing the history of their use, which dates back to early Christianity. And in the message, apart from a wish to share the making of the bread with their family, they also received a recipe. The prosphora, which are round with carved symbols in the center, are made by the skillful hands of students from the Professional High School for Interior Architecture and Woodworking “Hristo Botev”.

“Congratulations to your teachers and for the diligence with which you learn how our grandparents celebrated. Continue to keep the traditions”, Stamenov also wished.

The regional town hall will continue with the initiatives to revive and preserve Bulgarian customs.
