In the shortest possible time, we will pay the compensation to the farmers whose land was damaged by yesterday’s hailstorm in southern Bulgaria. This was promised by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture in the official office, Ivan Kapitanov, at a meeting with farmers in one of the areas most affected by the hail – the Chirpan village of Zetivo, where the Chirpan corn and sunflower plantations were completely destroyed. Information about the meeting was released by the press center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAF).

The deadline for submitting applications for surveying the affected areas is 10 working days, given the upcoming holidays – until May 14.

According to Kapitanov, in the budget of the State Fund for Agriculture (DFZ), funds are provided for the payment of aid in such cases. “By order of the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Georgi Tahov, the commissions were formed yesterday to survey the affected areas. They will prepare the necessary investigative reports. We will urgently summarize the data, review the applications and immediately proceed with the payment of compensation “, explained Ivan Kapitanov and called on the mayors of the respective municipalities to pay attention to all injured farmers to strictly submit applications within the specified period.

He also said that support is granted in case of 100% failure of the areas. “These are the rules of state aid and we are obliged to comply with them. We will do an individual inspection of each farm of each farmer,” Kapitanov pointed out.

The meeting was attended by over 30 farmers from the villages of Zetivo, Tsenovo, Gita, Darzhava, Svoboda and other settlements on the territory of Chirpan municipality.

Nearly 1,100 rockets were fired from the missile sites in southern Bulgaria of the Executive Agency “Fighting Hailstones” yesterday. “The effects of breaking up the hail clouds started at 1:19 p.m. and continued until late in the evening. The total number of processed hail cloud cells is 59,” noted the executive director of the agency Valeri Tsenov. According to him, about 300 of the rockets fired processed the supercell from which the hail fell in the most affected areas.
