Until May 10, they are checking whether children are immunized in all children’s and educational institutions on the territory of Stara Zagora municipality
From the Municipality of Stara Zagora, we urgently inform all children’s facilities – nurseries, kindergartens and schools, as well as all health professionals about the measures required by the RZI in connection with the registered cases of whooping cough. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Stara Zagora Municipality, Pavlina Delcheva, with the “Municipal property, health care and social activities” department.
Health professionals must check all immunizations and reimmunizations of all children in children’s and educational institutions on the territory of the municipality. The deadline for this is May 10, 2024.
Unimmunized children will be sought out, including with the help of Roma mediators where necessary, although the problem with anti-vaxxers is certainly not limited to minority children.
“The fears we have had for years, that parents refuse to immunize their children and this could lead to a serious problem, we are already seeing come true,” noted Pavlina Delcheva. The deputy mayor made an appeal to parents to show conscience and cooperate, and the directors of children’s and educational institutions to also approach the problem responsibly.
So far, in the Stara Zagora region, there are 3 registered cases of whooping cough since the beginning of 2024 – an 8-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 1-month-old baby, they are from Stara Zagora and from Kazanlak, and for the two students there is data for immunization carried out.
