Pazardzhik started the construction of the long-awaited new gym in the “Prof. Ivan Batakliev”.
Today, the ceremonial first sod for the construction of a new gym took place in the school yard. The event marks the beginning of the long-awaited construction of the school’s new sports facility, which should be completed in time for the start of the 2024/2025 school year.
This new gym is of great importance to the school. In winter and autumn, students are forced to do exercises in classrooms due to lack of proper sports facilities. Completion of the project will provide students with modern equipment and a safe environment for sports, which will significantly contribute to their physical development and well-being.
Mayor Petar Kulenski emphasized the importance of the project, especially in the context of previous funding difficulties: “We have provided funds in the same amount that the Ministry of Youth and Sports allocated back in December 2021. Then they were spent by the former leadership of the Municipality unknown for what. Now, with the new funding of BGN 833,000, which is strictly targeted, we can finally provide our children with suitable conditions for sports throughout the year.”
He also added that Pazardjik Municipality has introduced strict measures to control the use of public funds to ensure that such unregulated actions with municipal finances will not be repeated in the future. “All funds allocated for infrastructure for the children of Pazardzhik will be subject to increased control by the Municipality. Everything for the children will happen in conditions of complete transparency.” said Mayor Kulenski.
