The construction of tunnel under Mount Shipka will be able to start after completion of all procedures related to design, development and approval of the technical project and issuance of a construction permit. This he states in response to acting regional minister Violeta Koritarova during the parliamentary control of a question from the MP Valeri Mitov from the PG of “BSP for Bulgaria”.
“Still there are unfinished design procedures of the facility, which must be completed before moving on to construction and installation activities. They are related to the removal of an obvious factual error on the territory of the “Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre” office – Gabrovo,” the minister notes.
After its removal the term for the design works is 164 calendar daysclarifies Koritarova and adds that during the design process it was established that the conceptual pproject from 2008 does not meet the current norms for designing roads and tunnels.
“On that note the contractor has proposed several options to change the project, which lead to changes to the contract concluded on June 8, 2022. The changes need to be coordinated by the Road Infrastructure Agency with the Public Procurement Agency,” replied the minister. According to her, in addition, the need for additional expropriation procedures was established.
The deadline for the implementation itself remains 1280 calendar days.
Minister Koritarova is not bound by the indication of specific time framesnecessary for the design, and hence with the beginning of the construction of the tunnel.
